Write a short paragraph (4–6 sentences) in English correcting this online claim: 'Eating carrots cures colds.' In your paragraph, (1) explain why the claim is misleading, (2) name one reliable source to check, and (3) give a simple tip to verify the information.
✍️ Questão dissertativa: veja abaixo a resposta esperada e a explicação.
Resposta esperada
That claim is misleading because no single food has been proven to cure viral infections like the common cold. Carrots are nutritious and contain beta-carotene, but scientific evidence and health organizations do not list them as cures. Check reliable sources such as government health websites (e.g., CDC or NHS) or peer-reviewed medical journals for evidence. To verify, look for named studies, author credentials, and agreement among multiple trustworthy sources before sharing the claim.
